Making Tails Wag with Fabulous Grooming and Care

Frequently Asked Questions

Can someone else check my pet in for their appointment?
We prefer that only the pet owner checks in and authorizes services. If the owner is not present at check-in, we can only perform our Aqua service until authorization is given.
What is included in your grooming services?
Our grooming service includes a bath with a basic shampoo, thorough drying, 15 minutes of brushing, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and styling based on your preference.
Do you bathe pets before grooming?
Yes, we bathe all pets before using any grooming tools, except in extreme matting cases. This helps prevent cross-contamination, reduces bacteria, and ensures a safer grooming experience. Clean pets also have a better chance of healing in case of any minor nicks or cuts.
How long does grooming take?
On average, grooming takes 2-3 hours. However, this can vary based on our workload, walk-ins, and the condition of prior pets. We always call pet parents 10-15 minutes before finishing or immediately after grooming is complete.
What is your drying process?
We use a high-velocity dryer for most pets. If a pet requires extra drying time or is sensitive to the dryer, we use fan-only cage drying for their comfort.
Can I stay with my pet during grooming?
For insurance and safety reasons, we cannot allow pet parents in the grooming area. However, for senior pets with prior approval, we may request the owner’s presence to assist with the grooming process.
What happens if my pet is matted?
We will try our best to achieve your desired style, but severe matting may require close clipping for the pet’s comfort and safety. Owners must sign a matted pet release form before we proceed.
Do you use muzzles?
We follow a three-strike policy. We attempt gentle corrections twice before using an Elizabethan Collar (E-Collar) or a muzzle on the third attempt. If the pet remains difficult, we may refuse service.
Do you sedate pets or allow owners to sedate them before grooming?
We do not groom pets under sedation, including Benadryl. However, we can accommodate pets treated with CBD oil.
Do you use kennels or pens?
We provide a kennel-free environment unless a pet displays aggression. In such cases, we may use a pen or kennel for everyone’s safety.
What if my pet is not spayed or neutered?
Intact males are automatically placed in pens to prevent incidents. We also discourage bringing in female dogs in heat until their cycle is completely over.
Can I bring my own shampoo?
If your veterinarian prescribes a medicated shampoo, you are welcome to bring it. We use high-quality shampoos, including Zymox and Chlorhexidine formulas, but do not use oatmeal shampoos due to potential health risks. Human shampoos will not be used due to pH differences.
What if my pet or another pet has fleas?
We encourage all pet parents to follow their veterinarian’s flea prevention recommendations. We use only 100% pesticide-free but effective treatments in our facility.
My pet sheds a lot. Can you help?
Yes! We offer a specialized de-shedding service that removes 90-95% of loose hair. This process includes pre-blowing with a high-velocity dryer, followed by emollient shampoos, conditioners, and multiple de-shedding tools. We recommend regular grooming every 4-6 weeks to manage shedding.
How often should I groom my pet?
For a healthy and happy pet, we recommend grooming every 4-6 weeks, but no longer than 8 weeks. You can alternate between full grooming and bath-only appointments.
Can you trim my dog’s nails?
Yes! We encourage regular nail trims every 30 days or sooner for senior pets. Overgrown nails can be uncomfortable, similar to wearing tight shoes. We also offer nail grinding for a smoother finish.
When should I start grooming my puppy?
We recommend starting professional grooming after your puppy’s first set of vaccinations. Early exposure helps them get comfortable with the process, making future grooming experiences much easier.
Can you groom my pet to breed standards?
Yes, we can groom all breeds to their breed-specific standards or customize the trim based on your preference.
Do you allow late drop-offs?
We allow a 10-minute grace period. If you arrive later, your appointment may need to be rescheduled.
What happens if I miss my appointment?
We enforce a strict no-call/no-show policy. Our system sends reminders via text and email when you book, as well as seven and one day before the appointment. If you need to cancel, please call us the day before to avoid no-show fees.
What vaccines are required?
All pets must have written proof of a current Rabies vaccine. Rabies tags are not sufficient proof. If needed, we can contact your vet with your authorization. For pets exempt from vaccination, we require written documentation and a recent blood test from your veterinarian. While not required, we also recommend Distemper, Corona, Bordetella, and K-9 Flu vaccines.
Can someone else pick up my pet?
Yes! Please inform our staff if someone else will be picking up your pet. The individual must present a valid photo ID, such as a driver’s license or state-issued ID.
