Ever since she was a child, Lisa has had an unyielding love for animals. Growing up on a small hobby farm with her loyal dog Patches, she developed compassion by caring for even the most vulnerable creatures—a passion that was evident when she once tended to a fragile, bullied chicken.
Although Lisa once dreamed of becoming a veterinarian, she soon discovered that the academic path wasn’t right for her. Instead, an opportunity at her aunt’s full-line pet store opened her eyes to the broader world of animal care. It was there that she became fascinated by pet grooming. With little formal training available, Lisa took the initiative to learn on her own—starting with short-legged terriers and expanding her skills to other breeds—transforming herself into a self-taught groomer.
A defining moment came in 2003 at her first trade show in Chicago. Entering a grooming competition with her dog Bailey, a Shih Tzu/Poodle mix, Lisa relied on her creativity and determination—hand-scissoring Bailey’s long hair down to one inch. With fifteen minutes to spare, she clinched first place in the mixed breed beginners category.
Grooming since the summer of 1987, Lisa has found her career both fulfilling and rewarding. Today, she proudly runs her own business, Lisa’s Fabulous Paws, where every pet receives the love and care they deserve.
